Four Reasons Not To Let Past Sins Haunt You
It is so easy to heap condemnation on ourselves as believers for our past sins, even though we have repented for them. Those feelings can often cause us to pull away from Jesus rather than toward Him even more. That is why we must know and walk in the truth whenever we start to feel distant from Jesus.
Here are four truths to help you stay close to Jesus despite your past sins:
God does not condemn you.
Romans 8:1 says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
God has amnesia toward your sins.
Hebrews 8:12 says, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
Jesus died to make you righteous.
2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Jesus made you a new creation in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Remember, we cannot change the past. All we can do is repent and move forward, trusting God’s Word as truth despite how we feel.
Do you struggle with past sins and letting them distance you from Jesus? If so, let me know. I would love to pray for you.
