Struggles With Spending Time With Jesus

How would you define your current season with Jesus?  Indifferent? Apathetic? Are you going through the motions just to check off “spend time with God today” from your list?

We all go through dry seasons with Jesus, where we feel unmotivated to invest quality time with Him.  What matters most is that we do not park there but work to pull ourselves out of that funk as quickly as possible.

If you find yourself struggling to “want” to spend time with Jesus, let me encourage you with this:

  • Jesus is not mad at you.  He loves you with an everlasting love that does not shift like shadows based upon your Christian “performance.”  Do not let your lack of motivation cause you to hide from God in shame but embrace His love by faith.

  • Satan is the author of condemnation, not God.  Satan wants us to distance ourselves from Jesus during dry seasons by condemning us for having them.  Recognize condemnation for what it is, and do not let it take you further backward.

  • Decide today is the day to re-engage with Jesus.  The Bible says God draws near to us when we draw near to Him.  That is because Jesus is always ready to connect with us but waits on us to want the same thing.  Once we meet Him halfway, our desire for more of Him increases, and our dry spell fades away.

No matter how you feel today, never forget this:  God is a good God.  He loves you beyond measure and desires to have deep, intimate fellowship with you, His redeemed child – starting right now!

Are you in a dry season struggling to get out?  Do you need prayer?
