Three Big Mistakes When Discerning God's Will
Have you ever been convinced of Jesus’ plan only to have things go in the opposite direction or nowhere at all?
Here are three of the biggest mistakes we make when discerning God’s plan for our lives:
Misjudging God’s Timing.
Whenever we sense God leading us to do something, we automatically assume He means “now.” Often, we fail to consider that He might be revealing something to us for a later time or season.
Misjudging God’s Ways.
Whenever we receive a calling in our lives, we envision how it will function and be accomplished, based on our own logic and understanding. We commonly fail to remember that God’s ways are not our ways, and His plan for accomplishing it might be completely different from what we ever imagined or considered.
Misjudging Open Doors.
Whenever we seek God for direction, and a door opens for us, we usually interpret that event as a green light or thumbs up. Instead, we need to seek God for wisdom and discernment to know whether it is the right door to walk through.
No matter what God’s plan is for you as a born-again believer, be assured that He will ultimately accomplish it. In the meantime, seek the Holy Spirit for guidance as you prayerfully lay yourself at Jesus’ feet in complete surrender. Wait on Him and move when He says “go!”
Which of these mistakes has been your biggest downfall? Mine was misjudging God’s timing.
