Questioning If Jesus Was In Command

I questioned if Jesus was leading me or my desires were in command.

It was unnerving to step into my calling full-time after three decades of helping my husband fulfill his. It was equally nerve-racking to be thrust into the spotlight when I typically run from that environment.

But I could not dismiss the urgency I felt to start an online ministry to teach, disciple, and counsel women and help believers defend their faith. So, I ignored my fears and forged ahead.

I recall feeling incredibly awkward and uncomfortable once things were up and running. I questioned myself and many other matters while wondering if this new venture was really of God.

But then, I began receiving feedback from women who were blessed and encouraged by my online content and Bible studies. They confided openly in me about their marriage problems, family challenges, faith struggles, and desires to know Jesus deeper even though I was a stranger to them. It was the confirmation I needed to know I was on the right track with Jesus to fulfill my calling.

Jesus often leads us out of “the familiar” to test our faith and teach us to rely on Him to fulfill what He planted in our hearts.

Yes, it is uncomfortable and brings our insecurities to the surface when we step out by faith. But there is no comparison between the abundant blessing we receive from ministering to others and the minimal fear we experience ahead of time.

Are you fearful of stepping into your calling because you doubt Jesus is behind it? Do you question your effectiveness in ministry because of insecurity? Let me know in the comments so I can encourage and pray for you.
