Helping With Unbearable Burdens

Do you know that most people are carrying an almost unbearable burden?  How would you react if Jesus pulled back the curtains of their heart to show you the emotional turmoil they are in?  What would you do?  What would you say?

…Some say we should not talk to them about their struggles because it would only make things worse.

…Others say we should just pray for them and let them work through it with Jesus.

But as believers, God’s Word tells us in Romans 12:15 to cry with those why cry.  It also says in Matthew 22:39 to love our neighbors as ourselves.  So, how do we do that?  What does that look like?  Thankfully, Jesus gives us an answer in  Luke 10:25-37.  It is such a powerful picture because it demonstrates what love looks and acts like.  I encourage you to give it a quick read right now.

Remember, there are people hurting all around you.  If you wait for someone else to step in and make a difference, it might be too late.  That is why I love this quote from John E. Lewis, that says:

“If not us, then who? If not now, then when?”

Will you pray and do something intentional today to help, bless, or comfort someone who is devastated and hurting as the Lord leads you?  Let me know in the comments.
