Gleaning From Four Women In The Bible

There is so much to glean from certain women in the Bible.  Their example shows us what godliness looks and acts like, making them excellent role models for us to imitate as we live out our faith authentically.

Here is one thing we can learn from each of these women:

Mary (Martha’s sister). Mary loved Jesus.  Her love for Him was demonstrated by sitting at His feet and soaking in all He said, even when others were demanding her attention.  Likewise, we need to be reading God’s life-giving Word regularly despite the many distractions competing for our attention.

Mary (Jesus’ mother). Mary had courageous faith.  When she was an unmarried virgin, she humbly and willingly carried Jesus in her womb, despite how her (supernatural) pregnancy might appear to others.  Likewise, we need to humbly obey Jesus in what He calls us to do regardless of what others might think, believe, or assume.

Queen Esther. Queen Esther was selfless.  After finding out her people were to be executed by the King’s most honored nobleman, Esther risked her own life to save theirs by reporting this plot to the King.  Likewise, we need to do “the right thing” no matter the cost.

Ruth. Ruth was unshakably determined.  In the face of personal hardship and loss, Ruth refused to leave Naomi’s side but walked with her and her God wherever He led them.  Likewise, we need to be steadfastly committed to Jesus and walk by His side wherever He leads us.

Who is your favorite example of a godly woman in the Bible?
