Jesus Always Fulfills His Promises
I heard a story about a mom who promised her 9-year-old daughter ice cream for dinner if she got to the bus stop on time.
It was an important day for Sarah. She was excited about an interview with a prestigious law firm downtown and could not afford to be late. But Sarah’s daughter, Lilly, was known for missing the bus and needing a ride to school, which caused her concern on this crucial day.
Early that morning, Sarah decided to wake Lilly and promise her ice cream for dinner if she got to the bus stop on time—hoping that incentive would do the trick.
Excited by her mom’s promise, Lilly jumped out of bed, got ready in record time, and bounced down the stairs with her backpack in hand. She was five minutes ahead of schedule.
As Lilly rushed out the door heading to the corner bus stop, Sarah went upstairs to finish getting ready.
Seconds before Sarah was to leave the house for her interview, Lilly walked through the front door with disappointment on her face. Panicked, Sarah exclaimed, “What are you doing here? Why aren’t you on the bus?” Lilly answered, “The bus never came.”
As it turned out, Lilly was right. The bus broke down on the side of the road and never made it to the bus stop. But despite missing her interview and risking her coveted job opportunity, Sarah drove Lilly to school. She also fed her ice cream for dinner because she was a woman of integrity who kept her promises.
Much like the woman in this story, Jesus always fulfills His promises. In fact, if He said something in His Word, it can do nothing but come to pass because God cannot lie (Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29).
Are you afraid of trusting Jesus because you fear He will let you down or fail to keep His promises? If so, I would love to pray for you. Comment below.
