Forgiving Others Is Often "Easier Said Than Done"
Forgiving others is often “easier said than done.” But it is also the means Jesus prescribed to initiate our healing and set us free from the wounds that plague us.
I do not know about you, but I sometimes feel offended when Jesus calls me to forgive someone who has hurt me severely. It almost feels like He sides with the perpetrator by expecting the victim to forgive.
But something I learned after going through a devastating event in my family is this: forgiveness is the key that unlocks the bars holding bitterness, resentment, and anger hostage in my heart.
We often think we need to heal first before entertaining the idea of forgiving the one who injured us. But forgiveness is the God-ordained catalyst—and only catalyst—that brings about the healing we desperately desire. Without forgiveness, genuine healing cannot occur.
Are you struggling with unforgiveness toward someone who hurt you? Do you need prayer or encouragement to get there? Let me know in the comments.
