When The Bible Makes You Go "Huh?"

The Bible is God’s living and active Word of instruction to us.  It teaches us who He is, how to be saved from our sins, and what it looks like to glorify Jesus in our lives, to name a few.

But sometimes, it can be difficult to understand God’s heart through specific passages or grasp the intended meaning of verses.

If you find yourself confused over what things mean or how they apply to today, try this:

  • Pray for Clarity.

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper, Teacher, and Comforter.  Ask Him for the understanding of what you have read.

  • Find Correlating Passages.

Using the footnotes or superscript references in your Bible, read other passages related to the same subject matter or topic.  This can help provide you with better clarity and understanding.

  • Utilize Bible Helps.

There are a variety of aids and helps available, like commentaries, Bible dictionaries, and concordances.  Many are accessible online for free and really help bring transparency to confusing passages.
