Four Realities Of Following God's Calling

Have you ever wondered what things you will encounter by following God’s calling?  Do you fear finding out because you are unsure you can overcome them?

The good news is that Jesus always equips and enables us to accomplish our calling regardless of the obstacles we face.  The other good news is that Jesus always uses obstacles to refine and grow our faith in ways “smooth-sailing” can never accomplish.

Here are four realities to expect when following God’s calling for your life:

  • Negativity from Others.

Do not expect encouragement from all sides when obeying God’s calling for your life.  Sometimes, those who love you the most can deeply hurt you with their “Negative-Nellie” attitudes.  But stay the course regardless.

  • Scrutiny by Others.

Obeying God’s calling can feel like you have taken up residence under a microscope lens.  Everyone will be watching you like a hawk and judging your decisions left and right.  Though scrutiny comes with the territory, do not be shaken by it.

  • Missing the Mark.

Do not expect to “do it right” every step of the way as you follow God’s calling.  You will make mistakes as you fulfill Jesus’ plans for you. It happens to the best of them. So, give yourself plenty of room to fall short.

  • Having Uncertainty.

There will be times when you question whether you are doing God’s will even when you are right in the center of it.  Doubts and uncertainty are part of our human nature.  However, what matters is that we do not park in our doubts but drive through them by faith.

Nobody said fulfilling God’s plans and purposes for our lives would be easy or fear-free.  If it were, we would not need the constant help and intervention of the Holy Spirit to see us through.  But obeying Jesus in what He calls us to accomplish must be our number one priority regardless of who or what comes against us.

Have you encountered any of these realities while fulfilling God’s calling for your life? Let me know in the comments.
