Four Common Lies That Make Us Feel Unqualified
Satan loves to convince us that we are disqualified from being used by God with our gifts. He preys upon our weaknesses, hoping we surrender to his lies and let our insecurities keep us bound.
His lies go something like this:
Lie #1: You do not know enough of the Bible to use your gifts.
Truth: The indwelling Holy Spirit empowers us to use our gifts. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
Lie #2: You have not been a Christian long enough to use your gifts.
Truth: The Holy Spirit gave us gifts to use faithfully (1 Peter 4:10)
Lie #3: You will not know the answers to people’s questions.
Truth: It is okay not to know every answer to every question asked. We can research the information and get back the questioner with a timely answer. (Colossians 4:6)
Lie #4: God cannot use you because you still sin.
Truth: Jesus’ criteria for using believers is their faith and trust in Him for salvation. (John 14:12)
Satan’s lies are inevitable because we are in a spiritual war with rulers of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). However, we must combat Satan’s lies with the truth of God’s Word, knowing that “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4).
Do not give in to Satan or allow discouragement to overtake you. Trust Jesus instead by putting yourself out there and letting your gifts be used for His glory.
